Gonzo’s Quest Slot

As the history books wrote it, Gonzalo Pizarro y Alonso was a Spanish conquistador and younger paternal half-brother of Francisco Pizarro, the conqueror of the Inca Empire. He lived between the years of 1510 and 1548, and was born in Trujillo, Spain. He would accompany his eldest half-brother in his third expedition for the conquest of Peru in 1530, but was noted for being far less restrained towards the natives and the Inca than his older brothers. Gonzalo and his brothers would rule the settlements in Cuzco as a dictatorship, dominated by greed, corruption and brutality, taking a harsh line to any who refused Spanish rule.

Over the years, he would go on to fight several battles against the Inca and other nations, eventually turning on the Spanish king. He ended up surrendering to the king after a losing battle, and was beheaded for his crimes by the royal forces on the field. However, it is his quest for El Dorado that has seen NetEnt create an online video slot based on him, and it’s become one of the developer’s most loved games for a variety of reasons. And during game play, you’ll have Gonzalo, or Gonzo as he’s named in this product, watching on from the sidelines as well.

Seeking for Treasure

This game has quite a few intriguing features included in it, although its layout should be very familiar to the average game player, offering up five reels and three rows. These have had a variety of different Incan tribal masks added to them as symbols, which will provide you with the majority of the base game imagery. In addition, there are three animals included on the reels, these being the blue coloured eagle head, the red bull, and the yellow snake-like creature. As far as the tribal masks are concerned, there’s a blue and gold smiling symbol, a green and gold mask with its tongue sticking out, a completely yellow face baring its teeth, and a pink and gold one with hollow eyes. Further to this, every spin provides you with a strumming Spanish guitar sound whenever you form a win.

Accompanying the reels and rows of this game are a total of 20 separate pay lines, and these are all fixed in position, meaning that you’re unable to customise them in any way. However, you do have the chance to change your bet around per spin, and this is done by switching the coin value and/or the bet level. The first of these, the coin value, can be changed between its minimum of €0.01 and its highest level of €0.50 per line. As far as the bet level is concerned, you can adjust this between one and five, meaning that altogether, you’re able to place a maximum overall wager of €50 per spin, and there’s an included ‘Max Bet’ button to reach this amount instantly.

What Specialities Does Gonzo Have Up His Sleeve?

The most obvious additional feature of this game comes as part of the base product, and this is known as its ‘Avalanche Feature’. You’ll notice it come in to play whenever you form a winning combination on the reels. The icons included in the win will provide your pay out, and then they’ll crack and dissolve, making way for more icons to fall in to their place. Should another win be formed after the fall, the same thing will occur once more, with the symbols dissolving and new ones falling down. However, that’s not all that happens with the Avalanche, because there’s also the addition of the multiplier on top. This can be seen in the top right hand side of the screen, and every time an Avalanche occurs, it will increase by one. This can reach up to a maximum of time five, and your pay outs will be multiplied by such in each round of the Avalanche fall.

There’s also the addition of a wild symbol, which is represented by the tile with a question mark on it. This will substitute for any other symbol on the reels, except free fall icons, in order to form a win. They can also appear as part of an Avalanche fall as well, providing more opportunities for wins to be formed.

Finally, there is a golden tile with a sun god’s face on it. This is the ‘Free Fall’ icon, and each bet line containing three of these will trigger the freespins round, or as it’s classed in this game, the free falls round. You’ll be given 10 freespins in the first instance, and the triggering icons are not scatters, so they need to be in succession from the leftmost column. Additional free falls can be won during the round as well.
